Shore Hotel, Santa Monica, CA

The Shore Hotel Santa Monica is a leader in sustainability within the hospitality industry. The hotel, the newest luxury boutique property in the city, was carefully designed to allow guests to enjoy the views offered by the idyllic location just steps from the Santa Monica Pier, while maintaining privacy from pedestrians on nearby Ocean Avenue.

The unique site straddles a public roadway. The main hotel is constructed as a four level on podium structure over four levels of subterranean parking. The annex, a slab-on-grade building, is connected to the main building via an enclosed bridge, and has a garden area which allows for infiltration of storm water, whereas the main building relies on hydrodynamic separation and media filtration to accomplish the storm water quality goals and helping the hotel achieve LEED Gold certification, a first among newly-built hotels in Santa Monica.

The Shore Hotel features ground level restaurant and retail spaces accessible from both the hotel and from the adjacent sidewalks, seamlessly integrating its mixed-use spaces.
